چکیده

Due to its significant deficiencies such as low permeability, bearing and shear strength, excessive compressibility, soft soil is one of the most problematic types in civil engineering stabilization can be considered a suitable technique for pavements. This study investigates use ground granulated blast slag (GGBS) cement kiln dust (CKD) stabilizers soil. Thus, this involves two optimization stages; first stage, GGBS was incorporated into 0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, 12% by weight obtain optimal percentage, which 6%. Then, blended with CKD binary system at 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% dry The testing program used paper Atterberg limits compaction parameters investigate physical properties unconfined compressive strength (USC) 7 28 days examine mechanical characteristics. In addition, microstructures specimens were tested using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). findings reveal that enhanced optimum binder achieved 6% (25% 75% CKD), generates an increase about 3.3 times days, 5.5 comparison untreated enhancement attributed formation hydration products approved SEM. Consequently, case subgrade soils, pavement’s capacity performance.

Concrete is a mixture of cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate and water. Concrete plays a vital role in the development of infrastructure Viz., buildings, industrial structures, bridges and highways etc. leading to utilization of large quantity of concrete. On the other side, cost of concrete is attributed to the cost of its ingredients which is scarce and expensive, this leading to usage o...

Soil Stabilisation Using Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag

Stabilisation is a broad sense for the various methods employed and modifying the properties of a soil to improve its engineering performance and used for a variety of engineering works. In today‟s day soil stabilisation is the major problem for civil engineers, either for construction of road and also for increasing the strength or stability of soil and reduces the construction cost. In this t...

Properties of Cement Pastes Doped with Very High Amounts of Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag

In the current work, the properties of cement pastes doped with high amounts of ground granulated blast-furnace slag (HVS) were investigated. Portland cement (PC) was substituted with ground granulated blast-furnace slag (donated as slag) at very high amounts of 85%, 90%, 95% and 100%, by weight. PC paste without any content of slag was used as a reference. Some fresh and hardened properties su...
